Naija News understands that WASSCE for Private Candidates also known as General Certificate Examination, GCE, is usually written in November/December and is mostly taken by secondary school leavers who want to correct deficiencies in their results.

It’s a private examination and no uniforms are worn during the exam sitting, only biometric registration is compulsory.

Meanwhile, the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board, JAMB, has announced that the 2022/23 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) Registrations will now commence in the 3rd week of February.

The exam body in a statement released last Tuesday said the exercise earlier scheduled to start on February 12, 2022, will now kick-off on Saturday, February 19th and end on the 26th of March 2022.

According to JAMB, the reschedule was to enable more fine-tuning of the upgraded and user-friendly procedures for candidates’ registration.

The development according to Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Head, Public Affairs and Protocol, JAMB, is aimed at accommodating feedback from candidates and other stakeholders.

He noted that the fine-tuning process will round up within the one-week extension period given before the commencement of registration, Naija News reports.
