Simon Cowell recently shared some big news about the return of The X Factor USA. The FOX spin-off of the UK talent show went off the air after three seasons in 2013. However, Cowell revealed this week that there are plans to bring it back, this time on NBC.

Simon Cowell Discusses The X Factor USA Return

The Sun reported this week that Cowell has confirmed the return of The X Factor to the United States. Cowell reportedly secured a deal with NBC, which also airs America’s Got Talent.

“I have a saying in life that’s always go where you’ve got the best invitation – and NBC has offered us to make the show here,” Cowell said. “Which means we’ll make the show here.”

The judge continued by calling NBC the “perfect partner,” adding, “I just really like them, got on well with them and they get a kick out of seeing people succeed on [AGT]. So you go where the best navigation is and if I am being honest there is more excitement to make it here than in the UK.”

Cowell didn’t give more details about when we can expect to see the show, but 2023 will mark 10 years since the last season of The X Factor aired in the U.S. Arguably the most popular act to come out of the show is the girl group Fifth Harmony, which featured The Voice coach Camila Cabello.

What’s Going on with the UK Version of the Show?

In his comments to The Sun, Cowell suggested that there’s more demand for The X Factor in the States than in its original home in the UK. However, there have been several reports this year suggesting it could make a comeback there as well.

In July, it was reported that Cowell had signed a deal with Channel 5 to bring the show back for a regular season in 2023, after five years off the air at ITV. Cowell told Talent Recap in September that it was “more likely than not” that The X Factor UK would return.

Then earlier this month, ITV executive Kevin Lygo said of a possible return, “I suspect X Factor has not gone away forever, never say never.” As with the U.S. version, no specific dates have been shared for when fans can expect to see a new season.
