Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has accused the federal government of perpetrating ethnic cleansing in Nigeria.
According to Ortom, the silence of the government about the insecurity ravaging the country is a continuation of the 1804 Usman Danfodio Jihadist Movement in the country.
He further accused the Buhari government of nepotism by going after some purported enemies while turning a blind eye to the activities of some criminals particularly the Fulani militia operating in parts of the country.
Ortom made the submission in Makurdi, the state capital while hosting are Doctors Without Borders led by the organization’s head of mission in Nigeria, Mrs. Froukje Pelsma.
He lamented that it is regrettable that Nigerians cannot be protected in their own country.
The Governor however commended the Doctors for their support in alleviating the plight of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Mrs. Pelsma on her part, acknowledged the support of the government to their intervention in the health needs of the IDPs in the state.
She, however, called on the Governor to recruit more staff especially in the area of health by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) before it takes over from the organization.
Meanwhile, the Presidency has administered an oath of secrecy on staff members and threatens severe sanctions on them if they reveal any unauthorized information.
The Permanent Secretary, State House, Tijjani Umar on Tuesday in Abuja warned the affected members of staff that disobedience will attract penalties as prescribed under the public service rules.
The administration of the Oath of Secrecy and Declaration of Secrecy was performed on the staff members by Justice Hamza Muazu of the FCT High Court, Naija News understands.
