Security operatives on Monday took over the national secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the Federal Capital Territory.
This is coming after reports emerged claiming that the Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni had been sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari.
There were speculations that President Buhari had appointed the Governor of Niger State, Sani Bello as the new caretaker chairman of the party.
The APC, however, debunked the report that Buni had been removed as the Caretaker Chairman of the party.
Meanwhile, security operatives have blocked all roads linking the secretariat in Wuse 2, hence hindering vehicular movement.
It was gathered that members of the ruling party and staff at the party secretariat have been denied free access.
Police operatives disclosed that they are at the party’s secretariat to prevent the breakdown of law and order.
The ruling party is expected to appoint new leaders in its National Convention scheduled for March 26th, 2022.
There had been reports that President Buhari has anointed the former governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Adamu as the incoming Chairman of the party.
Adamu, however, has denied the report that Buhari endorsed him as the consensus candidate for the national chairmanship position of the party.
