Meru: DCI Detectives Arrest Prison Warder Pursuing His Girlfriend for Allegedly Defrauding Him KSh 9

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) sleuths have arrested an armed prison warder who was pursuing his girlfriend for allegedly defrauding him. The warder Edwin Omuse is said to have disappeared from duty on Wednesday, August 25, armed with a G3 rifle loaded with 20 rounds of ammunition, on a mission to kill his girlfriend.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) sleuths have arrested an armed prison warder who was pursuing his girlfriend for allegedly defrauding him.

The warder Edwin Omuse is said to have disappeared from duty on Wednesday, August 25, armed with a G3 rifle loaded with 20 rounds of ammunition, on a mission to kill his girlfriend.

According to the investigations agency, an enraged Omuse stormed out of Kangeta GK Prison in Meru, carrying the rifle carefully concealed in a sack.

Earlier, the officer had been overheard saying that he would travel to Thika to eliminate his girlfriend whom he alleged had defrauded him KSh 900,000 he had borrowed.

In a bid to save the girlfriend’s life, the detectives managed to trace her in her house located at Kisii estate in Thika town.

They immediately moved her to safety and laid an ambush in wait for the warder gone rogue. At around 5pm, the officer arrived and using a spare key, gained entry into the house.

He assembled the firearm and made a call to the girlfriend who is a fourth-year student at Mount Kenya University, inquiring about her whereabouts.

The detectives immediately moved in and arrested Omuse and recovered the firearm which he had been hidden beneath a couch.

The suspect was placed in custody, as detectives processed him for arraignment.

The DCI, in turn, warned and cautioned female youth particularly those in universities, colleges and other tertiary institutions to be wary of predators whose bond of love is premised on monetary cords that are meant to temporarily win their affection.

Police shoots girlfriend

This incident came just days after another law enforcer based in Nakuru shot and killed his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself.

The officer, Constable Bernard Sivo, is said to have attacked Mary Nyambura at Njoro Sub-County Hospital where she had sought treatment after suffering a fractured leg.

The 29-year-old later managed to go to the hospital, and it was while she was being treated when the officer emerged armed with an AK-47 rifle.
