Police have shot dead a 28-year-old man in Kipusi village in Mwatate, Taita Taveta County.

The man reportedly assaulted two police officers by stabbing them with a knife while resisting arrest.

The Saturday, June 5 incident left locals in shock.

Officers recuperating in hospital

Following the incident, the officers who sustained serious injuries were rushed to a Voi hospital, currently recuperating.

Suspected love triangle

TUKO.co.ke recently reported an incident in Nairobi county where a police officer shot dead another middle-aged man in a suspected love triangle.

The officer, Titus Kipchirchir Kirui, is said to have shot Charles Karugu Kikuyu, aged around 32 years, after an argument with another unknown man over a woman.

According to a police statement seen by TUKO.co.ke, Embakasi police officers who visited the scene found Kikuyu lying in a butchery bleeding profusely.

He was rushed to the Mama Lucy Hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival. Kikuyu's body was moved to the City Mortuary awaiting autopsy.

Kirui was later arrested and put in custody as a probe into the incident continues. At the scene, the officers recovered one spent cartridge, which will be used as an exhibit.

In a separate related story, Nairobi High Court Judge Stella Mutuku has sentenced two police officers on patrol and shot dead a woman resting inside her private car parked at the City Park in Nairobi.

The incident involving police constables William Chirchir and Godfrey Kirui happened on May 20, 2018.

The court found two cops guilty of manslaughter and blamed them for using extreme force despite the victims posing no danger.

The deceased was later on identified as businesswoman Janet Wangui Waiyaki.

In her company was her nephew Bernard Chege, who also sustained injuries during the 10 am incident.

Eyewitnesses said the car had parked for close to one hour at the scene prompting police constables to open fire on suspicion its occupants could be up to no good.

Although the former police officers pleaded for a non-custodial sentence, lady justice handed each seven years.

Remorseful 36-year-old Chirchir and Kirui, 28, agreed with the prosecution and the judge that they should have acted differently.
