US-based Kenyan pastor Dr KN Jacob has advised Kenyans on social media on the importance of tithing to a church.

The man of God shared a lengthy message on Facebook, noting pastors have the right to use the tithe money as they pleased.

He shared a bible verse from 1 Corinthians 9: 13-14 that speaks about those serving in the church having the right to receive their living from the gospel.

The preacher noted that a church is not an easy 'business' to run, and those who claim they only enrich pastors forget to mention the night clubs and supermarkets where their money is also spent.

Jacob said giving to the poor is not the same as tithing, but this was supposed to be done to one's church because it is a command from God.

"Giving to the poor is not tithing. Pay your tithe to your local church and give your love offering to evangelism and the needy. We’re commanded to support the gospel and the needy. You cannot give me a monetary gift if you owe me money. You can only gift me with money after you’ve paid me the debt you owe me. You cannot give God love offering before you clear your dues (tithe)," he wrote.

He said even dishonest pastors do not stop those who tithe from honouring their God and gave examples such as people using notes whilst there are still many fake notes in circulation.

Jacob noted he was not pushing for people to tithe, but after his eyes were opened to the truth about tithing, his family have cleared all their debts ever since and owe no one even a coin.

The motivational speaker advised those who think it is wrong to do so to pray and ask God for guidance as they may be blocking prosperity in their house for failing to honour God's word.

"You may be standing on your own way to infinite blessings. You may be blocking peace and prosperity in your house. Test my God with your tithe. Do it prayerfully till you do it joyfully. It may take a while for you to experience the freedom that comes along with surrendering your resources to God. Tithing will redirect your heart to God," he added.

In other news, the said pastor recently gifted his daughter a Mercedes Benz as she marked her 16th birthday.

Jacob noted it would be irresponsible parenting to gift a 16-year-old such a car in some parts of the world, but where he lives, it's very common.

The author also noted youths with work experience in his area are more attractive to universities, and parents may also not be available to drop their teens to and from work.

He also prayed that God keeps her in perfect peace and health all the days of her life.
