The government has identified 14 possible spots where bodies of the missing mother and child who drowned at Likoni Channel in Mombasa could be as search for the victims continues.
A multi-agency team has been dispatched to the scene to join the recovery operation which has been going on for days since the tragedy happened on Sunday, September 29.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, October 2, the head of multi-agency operations Colonel Lawrence Gituma disclosed they were looking at nine possible locations of the victims trapped in a car which fell off the MV Harambee ferry and plunged into the Indian Ocean on Sunday evening.
"There are 14 possibilities of where the vehicle could be, and we have exhausted five. We are working 24/7 to ensure the process is completed," Gituma said.READ ALSO: Kibra woman finds cheating husband stuck with her sister
The update came amid growing pressure from members of the public who were angered by the government's slow response to the disaster and further infuriated by reports that the family of the victims had to hire private divers to help recover bodies of their loved ones from the deep waters.
John Wambua, husband of the late Mariam Kigenda who drowned alongside her daughter Amanda Mutheu, had earlier indicated they were forced to fork out KSh 250,000 for private divers due to prolonged delay in the recovery of the bodies.

Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho who had been silence since the tragedy took place in his county was forced to break his silence on the matter after a section of Kenyans started asking for his whereabouts.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Joho asked Kenyans to be patient as rescue teams continued with the search operation noting the exercise was complex and required more time.
"I understand the pain the family and relatives of Mariam Kighenda and her daughter are undergoing as they wait for these search operation. We understand the complexity of the search operations being the reason for the delay, and therefore we are asking for patience," he said.The county chief challenged the Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) to put in place safety measures to ensure the country does not experience such a tragedy again in future.
He also used the occasion to send his condolences to the family of the 35-year-old mother and her four-year-old daughter.
