Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has ordered closure of all bars countrywide for two days to allow ample time for census.

Speaking on Wednesday, August 21, at Embu Stadium during the official opening of the 10th edition of the Water Services Companies Games, the CS noted that the exercise will start at 6pm.

"We shall close all our social places especially the bars at 5pm to give you an hour to be home before the enumerators arrive at 6pm so that they can find you at home," said Matiang'i.

The tough talking CS further noted all enumerators are people well known to the locals and there was no need for unnecessary tension and drama following claims 'strangers' had been hired.

“No one will come from outside their sub-location, which means they know people around there, they are known and they know their way around,” he said.

The no nonsense CS also assured Kenyans security will be beefed up and warned those who intend to masquerade as observers, saying all foreign agencies and individuals have been vetted for approval.

In Kuresoi, Nakuru county, Deputy County Commissioner Felix Watakila urged locals who have dogs to lock them up to avoid incidences of scaring away the enumerators.
