ODM dismisses reports on Namwamba's replacement

- Namwamba resigned on Wednesday, July 6 citing frustrations from a section of the members close to party leader Raila Odinga

In a statement released by the director of communications Phillip Etale, ODM has refuted claims that MP Gitobu Imanyara has replaced the Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba as secretary general.

The party says they are yet to receive an official resignation letter from Namwamba vacating the secretary general seat.

Etale urged the public to treat all other reports as speculation saying appointments of officials are only done after recommendations by the National executive Committee (NEC).

The Budalang'i MP resigned on Wednesday, July 6, as the ODM secretary general citing frustrations from some of the members close to Raila Odinga.

His resignation came just days after ODM vice chair Paul Otwoma resigned from his position saying he was being mistreated.

Raila Odinga had reportedly rebuked Namwamba earlier in the week for publicly airing his grievances together with other western leaders without following the laid down party procedures.

Namwamba had previously been accused of being a mole which saw some of Jubilee legislators welcoming him to their party,an offer he declined.

Namwamba is set to make an official announcement on his resignation and future political move next week.
